GOLF BALL DROP

The 9th annual Golf Ball Drop was a huge success! Started in 2003 by, then Director Phillip Miller, this fundraiser is the single most successful for the United Way for Spoon River Country. In the past 9 years this event has raised about $74,000 for the United Way and their partner agencies.

Each year the top 3 prizes are cash, with the Grand Prize being $1,000! There are always a great selection of prizes and many great sponsors each year as well.

This is how it works: Individuals purchase raffle tickets prior to the event, either through the United Way, at our Partner Agency locations, and other specified businesses. Each raffle ticket number is written on a golf ball. Then, the Canton Fire Department raises all of the golf balls up in the air and drops them into pre-marked holes on the ground. The holes each have prizes assigned to them from $50-$1000 dollars in value. The golf ball which lands closest to or in the hole wins the prize assigned to that hole.

Each year the event becomes more exciting and successful. The Golf Ball Drop gathers large crowds at the Friendship Festival Grounds after the parade each year!  Adults and children alike love to watch at the thousands of golf balls pour from the bucket Fire Truck onto our course!!!

Please continue to check back as more details on the prizes and locations to get your raffle tickets are released.

We look forward to our 10th Annual Golf Ball Drop in September 2012!!!!
