The United Way has been busy this year planning and hosting trivia bowls. What is a trivia bowl you ask? It is a gathering of teams, out to have a fun and exciting night of trivia! It consists of ten rounds of ten questions each, ranging greatly. The categories and questions are the epitome of trivia. The United Way board works hard to find a vast gathering of useless information, pertinent current events, and the oh-so-relevant pop culture questions. The teams compete to answer as many as possible correctly, and the top three teams earn trophies, and bragging rights!
The first trivia bowl was held at the Lewistown VFW in 2007, and we continued that tradition in March of 2009 through 2011. We just hosted our 11th Trivia Bowl at the Canton American Legion. It was held on Saturday, November 12th, 2011 at 6pm. Also, in an effort to respond to the growing need for non-perishable food items to aid the local food pantry’s, the United Way asked the community to come together and help stock the shelves. In conjunction with all of the trivia bowls since 2009, the United Way asked the teams and community to donate non-perishable food items, to be donated to the local food pantry. The trivia bowl contestants have really pulled through for the food pantries donating over 1,000 non-perishable food items since 2009.
The schedule for trivia bowls will be released soon for 2012. Check back for details!
