Boy Scouts Of America – W.D. Boyce Council

W.D. Boyce Council provides first class scouting experiences for Boy Scouts in the Fulton County area. United Way funds help with the cost of Leadership Training events for Scoutmasters and other troop leaders. Furthermore, United Way assists Fulton County troops with support of Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout Troops along with providing scouting resource materials to scout leaders.

Red Cross of America – Fulton-Schuyler Chapter

The American Red Cross provides many services to the citizens of Fulton County throughout the year. United Way assists programs within the American Red Cross that benefit many individuals you know. These include Senior Transportation (free transportation to and from medical and other appointments), Health and Safety Education for Youth (i.e. CPR training), and Disaster Assistance (Fire, Flood, Tornado damage assistance).

YMCA

The YMCA in Canton provides many services to the area including activities for seniors and youths, day camps, babysitting and much more. The United Way for Spoon River Country assists the YMCA to fund Preschool Education programs, School Age Centers, Youth Aquatics and Activities as well as Senior Activities.

Fulton-Mason Crisis Services

Fulton-Mason Crisis Services strives to provide assistance to victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault in the form of emotional support, crisis counseling, emergency shelter and referrals. FMCS staff also provides an array of educational programs to the community about domestic violence and sexual assault.
United Way funds assist FMCS’ crisis intervention program and the Children’s Advocacy program by providing supplies, emergency shelter and food, transportation, rent assistance, assistance with transitional housing expenses, and other incidental expenses for victims of abuse or their children in Fulton County. These services are invaluable to domestic and sexual abuse victims.

Youth Acres

Youth Acres is a fantastic camping resort for individuals of all ages. They offer camping and day events in a wilderness setting. Many Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops utilize the grounds of Youth Acres for training and camping activities.

K.A.R.E.

Kamping And Recreational Experiences (K.A.R.E.) is a non-profit organization which serves developmentally and physically disabled residents of Fulton and Mason Counties. K.A.R.E. provides a week long camp for members in the summer and monthly recreational and social events throughout the year. One activity that United Way money helps fund is a monthly bowling outing where residents are able to have a great time while enjoying the company of individuals just like themselves.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is a long withstanding non-profit organization which provides many different services to the community including the Annual Tree Tag Program during the holiday season and a food pantry. The Salvation Army uses United Way dollars to fund their Social Services Ministries Program and to provide a Corp Community Center for youth and women ministries and Senior Citizens Projects and Programs.

YWCA

The YWCA offers life sustaining programs to Fulton County residents of all ages. The YWCA works to eliminate racism and empower women. They help families put their lives together in productive ways and build secure foundations for self sufficiency. The United Way for Spoon River Country assists in the funding of the "Lunch With Friends" Nutrition Project for older adults, a county wide program which provides congregate and home delivered meals via sites located in eleven communities from Avon to Astoria, and helps fund the YWCA’s two Child Development Centers and a summer lunch program for low income children.

GIRL SCOUTS OF CENTRAL ILLINOIS

Through the Girl Scouts unique Leadership Development and Community Service Program, the words of the Girl Scout Mission come to life: “Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.” Girl Scouts is inclusive, striving to leave no girl out, regardless of her economic status, race, religion or ability. The United Way assists GSCI in providing membership assistance so every girl can belong to Girl Scouts USA regardless of her income. The United Way also helps sponsor teambuilding and leadership programs to make them affordable to all girls. The funding from United Way also provides patches and uniform components for hardworking girls who cannot afford these symbols of their accomplishments.

Catholic Charities Senior Services Program

Catholic Charities provides professional in-home counseling to seniors in Fulton County. The counseling services help seniors cope with issues such as grief and loss, isolation, depression, anxiety and chronic illness. Services are offered in the home of the senior to meet the needs of seniors who cannot access counseling services in the community. The United Way for Spoon River Country provides funding to support the transportation cost of a mental health counselor to provide in-home counseling services to seniors in Fulton County. There are no fees for the service.
