What’s NEW at the United Way?
7th Annual Golf Ball Drop
Another year, another successful Golf Ball Drop! The event was held Saturday, September 19th at the Friendship Festival Grounds at 1:30pm. There were many great prizes to be won this year at the Golf Ball Drop, the top three prizes were cash. Hole in One prize was $1,000, won by Carolyn Woods, Eagle Hole was $500, won by Bob Quarello, and the Birdie Hole was $250, won by Sue Rusch. The Hole in One prize winner, Carolyn Woods was present at the drop and was so thankful that she won. She explained to the crowd that this is the first time she has won a prize of this size! Congratulations to all of the winners! There were great hole prizes as well, as the United Way received many donations of gift certificates, bicycles, and a family pool pass. The additional fifteen winners were: Randy VanMiddlesworth, Rudy Hadsell, Janet White, Steve Adams, Patti Schoon, Sharon Grove, Bill Lindsey, Sandy Powell, Phil Fleming, Jim & Jill Stratton, Lisa Gardner, Debi Stambaugh, Betty Grigsby, Sally Pletz, and Matt Vogel. The Golf Ball Drop was supported by area businesses who chose to sponsor the event, and by people in our community who purchased tickets! 2010 Campaign
It is campaign time! Thank you to everyone who came to the Canton Elk’s Lodge on Thursday, August 27th to help us Kickoff our annual campaign! We had a fun night, with great food, great friends, and most of all United Way partner agencies. The United Way would like to thank the nine agencies who came out to support them. The Canton Family YMCA, Catholic Charities, Fulton-Mason Crisis Service, Girl Scouts, K.A.R.E., Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Youth Acres, and YWCA, each agency had representatives there to explain their organization and what wonderful programs they provide.
